Fairfax 1 has the nicest hat samples, and a nice room ambience. Studio Rock has the largest number of good-sounding cymbals in general. ![]() Studio Pop has the tom versatility I want, and Black Oyster has some nice sounding crashes. With that said, I also prefer mixing and matching different samples from different ADpaks, since I never found one kit that did everything I wanted.įor example, the United Pop ADpak has the best sounding snares I've found so far and lots of percussion instruments (and a nice kick as well). For me, I like to think of it as a real recorded parate tracks in my DAW for each instrument, as well as room mics, etc. ![]() The built-in MIDI grooves and such are secondary to me, but not completely unimportant.ĪD2 has an amazing number of ways it can be used. (And the actual programming itself is 90% of making realistic drums.but I digress). My main goal was to have the most versatile, realistic-sounding drums I can for programmed MIDI drums, within a reasonable budget. Once you understand what each piece of software can do, the possibilities really start to open up. I've been playing around with EZ Drummer, SS5, and AD2 for some time now, and finally settled on AD2.
